To ensure a reliable mode of assessment of Class X students, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has developed a special software to help schools evaluate students under Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme. The CBSE-CCEDATA software released by the board will help schools compile and upload assessment data of students for both scholastic and co-scholastic areas under the CCE scheme. The CBSE-CCEDATA software is available in the website www.cbse.nic.in.

The Class X board exam is all set to start from March. With the board examination becoming optional, students for the first time have the liberty to choose between either one of the exams—the school or the board exam.

“The board has decided to issue uniform certificates to students, irrespective of their assessment by the board or by the school,” said MC Sharma, controller of examinations of CBSE. The summative assessment in March will represent the final leg of the assessment.

CCE requires students to go through evaluation processes periodically. There are formative assessment (FA) tests, and end-of-term summative assessment procedures (SA). There are thus tests spread out across the academic calendar, making away with one major assessment procedure — the CBSE board examination.
