Physics formulas for high school

Density is mass per unit volume
Density = mass / volume

velocity = displacement / time

Force = rate of change of momentum

Momentum = mass . velocity

Power is rate of work done
Power = work / time
Unit of power is watt

Potential energy (P)
PE = m.g.h
m = mass
g = acceleration due to gravity (9.81m/s2)
h = height

Kinetic energy (P)
P = (1/2).m.v2
m = mass
v = velocity

Ohm’s law
V = I . R
V = voltage applied
R = Resistance
I = current

Electric power (P) = (voltage applied) x (current)
P = V . I = I2 . R
V = voltage applied
R = Resistance
I = current

OPTICS
Index of refraction

n = c/v

n – index of refraction
c – velocity of light in a vacuum
v – velocity of light in the given material

Ask a Question:

  • It is said that the speed of light decreases when it passes from a optically rarer medium into a optically denser medium. Then the speed of light again increases when it emerges out of the medium.From where does the light particles get the required energy to accelerate its speed when it emerges out of the optically denser medium into a optically rarer medium.

  • Hi i am aravind. Can you explain about the transfer of current(flow of electrons) ie.between a positive terminal to a negative terminal,for instance,how does the electron originate from the positive terminal and go towards the negative terminal..?? Why is it(electron-a negative charged particle) attracted towards a negative terminal..?? Usually similar charges repel… I still dont understand it… Pl can you explain….
    Thank you.
